Exploring Japanese Universities: A Seminar for Expat Parents
Tokyo, June 2nd, 2024 — In a significant event for the expat community, a seminar titled “Let’s Talk Japanese Universities” was organized, offering invaluable insights for parents interested in exploring higher education options for their children in Japan. The seminar, free and open to all, brought together parents and professionals to discuss the nuances of navigating the Japanese university system.
A Platform for Shared Experiences and Professional Guidance
The seminar kicked off with a warm welcome and introduction by Prem Keswani, Ashish Deo, and Sandeep Gundap, who organized and facilitated the event. They emphasized the importance of such forums in helping parents make informed decisions about their children’s education.

- Hemant Visal: A parent of Isha, currently studying Bio Science at Waseda University’s Faculty of Science & Engineering, Hemant shared his family’s journey and the decision-making process behind choosing a Japanese university.
- Prabjot Singh: With a son and daughter enrolled at Tsukuba University and Tokyo Institute of Technology, respectively, Prabjot provided a comparative view of interdisciplinary engineering and the Global Scientist and Engineer program, highlighting the benefits and challenges his children faced.
- Khushi Jhaveri: Representing EdYou Japan, Khushi offered professional insights into the admission processes, the support services available, and the unique aspects of Japanese higher education.
Engaging Discussions and Interactive Q&A
The seminar was structured to provide both informative presentations and interactive sessions. Each speaker had ten minutes to present their experiences and insights, followed by a comprehensive Q&A session that lasted nearly an hour. Parents had the opportunity to ask detailed questions and receive personalized advice, making the seminar highly engaging and beneficial.
