There is a 58-year-old Japanese woman who has served abandoned children for 27 years as a volunteer. Ritsuko Shibuya happened to end up in Kolkata, India while she was traveling. She never left. Why did she abandon the life she had been working for? Why has she stayed in Kolkata for all these years?

One of India’s most beloved figures is Mother Teresa. The Nobel laureate dedicated her life to serving the poor, sick, and dying. At one of her facilities, there is a 58-year-old Japanese woman who has served abandoned children for 27 years as a volunteer. Ritsuko Shibuya happened to end up in Kolkata while she was traveling.
