We reported Deepotsav in earlier weeks in EVENTS corner of Indo Japan Pulse

Deepotsav 2018 concluded successfully yesterday with a yearly gala of thousands of Lamps, Rangoli, Culture, Food and Fun reminding us all about Diwali away from our homes!

This year`s Deepotsav was even more special with large crowd participating and the group arranged the “Raavan Dahan” for the second consecutive year during such a large public gathering!
The spiritual meaning behind burning a Raavan(a demon) is not actually killing the physical Ravana outside, but to kill the subtle part in us which are demon-like “thoughts”, “inclinations”, “wrong” and “behaviors” inside us.

Of course, a lot of Indian Community members were looking forward to this and attended in large numbers, maybe Organizing Group might have to think of a bigger place next time. Apart from Indian friends, there were a lot of Japanese, friends from western countries. friends from Bangladesh and Nepalese friends too who joined and actively participated in the festival.

It is becoming bigger every year. And in Japan context, the timing also matches with the year-end illumination/light up across the country.

The program was planned on Nov 10th, Saturday evening from 16:30 to 20:00.
The event commenced at a place which our community prefers to call it “Dinosaur Park” out of love and due to the presence of a Dinosaur slide there.
(Actually, the official name of that areas is “子供の広場” (Kodomo No Hiroba” (Open Ground for kids), opposite to El Torito restaurant.)

The event had following programs.

1. Ravan Dahan (along with light crackers) – for the first time during such a large public gathering!
2. ~5000 candles decorated by various Indian & Japanese groups with diverse cultural background in an open park
3. Hundreds of kids designing own lamps
4. Ladies & other art lovers exhibiting colorful art of Rangoli
5. Artists performing traditional Indian and Japanese dances and playing on classical musical instruments
6. Mouthwatering Diwali special Indian dishes (All veg)
7. Taiko – Japanese drums
8. Karate show by Japanese kids
9. Fuljhadi finale!!

Enjoy the video at a glance, if you missed to catch up with it yesterday.

Kudos to HINDU SWAYAMSEVAK SANGH (HSS) JAPAN together in support of other groups organized Deepotsav 2018 as annual festival of lights. Convey them on this post or on their page, the fabulous job they keep on doing every year and also suggest what can be improved as per your observations.
