7 Key points from PM Abe speech!

Gist of what PM Abe said :

1. Situation in the world : The numbers of people infected are growing across the globe. Count is reaching to 5 lac. For initial 1 lac it took 60 days, but the recent days, it took just 2 days to increase 1 lac. The number of infectants are growing and there medical sector is struggling to provide them service. This is not just a story of other countries, it can happen in Japan too in future.
2. Till now & future ahead : Till now as per the experts too, avoiding cluster spread and increase was the measure. But now as we know there is a possibility of over-shoot is eminent. Some prefectures, there are clear requests that please do not go out in night and try to remain indoors over the weekend. I would also request your cooperation. If we do not do this, and take example of West, in just two weeks, the number can go to 30 times and our strategy to “ flatten to curve” will go in vain. There might be people thinking “Still the numbers are less as compared to west”, but numbers can increase drastically if we do not remain alert. We are preparing for extreme scenario but we need your cooperation. I have to say that people need to brace for a battle (against the coronavirus) that could be prolonged
3. Precautions : Again would like to ask to avoid following 3 points as a.Avoid badly ventilated place, b. Avoid crowded places and c. Avoid near proximity conversations. Schools reopening must take care if these 3 too even though we will be consulting experts again on this point.
4. Method : We are at the verge of applying forceful measures but we are not doing it in the way west has applied it. So please take the above measures to avoid forceful measures.
5. Treatments & Vaccine : We will speed up the method for treating this with and coming up with vaccine. 4 medicines are already under clinical trials. Avigan amongst them has shown positive effects in test. Will increase the scope of testing. Japan would like to extend the support to other nations of the world if treatments/ vaccines are developed through innovation.
6. Economy : Also about economy package, we are trying to hasten the things and it will be bigger than package during Lehman shock. Lot of small and medium business like restaurants, travel, music have witnessed 70% to 90% rev falls or even minus, they all will be supported in some manner. Already interest free loan if 5 years is being offered. Not only this but other benefits are also being thought over. People who have lost jobs will also b supported. We will draw up the boldest-ever package by using all policy tools, such as reducing or exempting tax payments and extending financial assistance,
7. Olympics: Deeply apologized about the postponement of Olympics this year and would like to make next year’s summer Olympics a great success.At this point, we don’t need to declare a state of emergency…but we are still facing a critical moment
