Strengthening Bonds: Indo-Japan Chamber Welcomes New Consul General in Chennai

The Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IJCCI) recently hosted a reception welcoming Takahashi Muneo, the newly appointed Consul General of Japan in Chennai, and his spouse. Mr. Muneo, in his first assignment in India, expressed great enthusiasm about strengthening the relationship between Japan and India, especially in Chennai and southern India.

He highlighted the significant increase in Japanese companies operating in the region and anticipated further growth, emphasizing new areas of cooperation such as green transformation and enhancing the business environment. This year, the issuance of Japanese visas is expected to exceed 30,000, a remarkable increase reflecting expanding economic and human exchanges between the two countries.

N. Kumar of the Sanmar Group underscored the enduring friendship between Japan and India, noting recent increases in Japanese investments in southern India. N. Ravi from Kasturi and Sons Limited traced the rich historical ties between the two nations, highlighting Japan’s substantial economic footprint in India today.

T.P. Imbichammad, president of IJCCI, reiterated the chamber’s commitment to promoting deeper business and cultural ties between Japan and India. The event celebrated the growing partnership under the Japan-India Special Strategic Global Partnership, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in various sectors.
