Finding a Notary in Japan: A Helpful Option in Kojimachi

When you’re in Japan and need to get documents notarized, the process can feel like navigating a maze, especially if the Embassy of Japan isn’t an option due to specific restrictions. For those moments, it’s reassuring to know there are alternative places to turn to, and I want to share one such gem in Tokyo that might save you time and stress.

Notary is called 公証 (KouShou). You can search other similar places too with that key word in your area.

One reliable spot is located in Kojimachi, right in the heart of Tokyo. They offer notarization services for a fee of about ¥11,500 per document set, which, I’ll be honest, feels a bit steep. If you’re notarizing multiple similar documents, they’ll charge for each set separately, so it’s good to budget accordingly. The process, though, is refreshingly straightforward. All they ask for is a valid ID, and in our experience, the whole thing was wrapped up in under 30 minutes—pretty impressive for paperwork in a foreign country!

Here’s the address for anyone who needs it:

Atom Kojimachi Tower, 6F

〒102-0083 Tokyo, Chiyoda City, Kojimachi, 4 Chome-4-7

Phone: 03-3265-6958

I’m sharing this because I know how daunting it can be to track down trustworthy services in Japan, especially when you’re dealing with important documents. There are likely other places out there too, but this one stood out for its efficiency. Just a heads-up: we at IndoJapanPulse have no ties to this office—we’re simply passing this along in the public interest after hearing from many of you asking about notarization options.

If you’ve found other great spots or have tips to share, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep helping each other navigate life in Japan!
