Fly board in Japan (Travelog by Sumit Rathod)
The Gang
We went in a group of 6 people from Tokyo. We started from Gyotoku area by 8:00 and reached the Kamyoji bus stop by 11:30 via Shinzushi train station. Just 5 min from there is this Fly boarding place.

Reaching and quick Training:
When we reached, first we completed the paperwork related to consent form and insurance. After that we were given our body suit (the one that is used for surfing) and helmets to wear. Once in our suits the training session began. The trainer could only speak in Japanese with limited usage of English words. In training we were taught how to fly and control the direction while flying.
The main part of Flyboarding :
We were split into group of 3 each. So, 3 persons (Instructor and 2 other persons) were on the water scooter and 1 person was attached to the flyboard. The first person to go flyboarding is attached to the flyboard at the shore and is connected to the water scooter with a water pipe. Flyboarding takes place in deep water off the shore just to prevent you from any injury from hitting any rocks when you fall down. So eventually the first person is dragged into water by the water scooter till the desired depth is reached.
Once there, the instructor starts the water motor which pumps the water into the pipe and pumps out from the flyboard making the flyboard to elevate from the water surface due to water pressure.
The helmet contains a headset with which instructor gives instructions and we can also communicate with him. Once done with flyboarding one has to undo the flyboard in water and the subsequent person has to wear it in the water itself. The camera was a go pro camera instead someone sitting on the water scooter needs to shoot you.
Advice and What to expect ?
It is advised to go in group of at least 2 persons because if you go solo you will be clubbed with other person. This facility is hardly 5 mins walking distance from the beach and don’t expect luxurious facilities (bathrooms, toilets etc) as they are fairly basic.
Happy Flyboarding !!!
