Japan is well known for its technological prowess across the world, yet the citizens of Japan live a very simple life. You will find most of the Japanese doing the following
- Using bicycles in their daily lives – Public transport is a normal mode of transport for daily commute. Apart from that it’s a common scene in Japan where Japanese mothers ride with third kids on these wonders bicycles safe for kids also called as “ Mama Chyari”. Some men also commute using bicycles if not too far away from workplace. Cycles are from simple format to multi gears or with battery assists too.
- Sleeping on the floor beds – Majority of Japanese still prefer to sleep on floor bed on tatami floor base. Tatami are covered with woven soft rush (藺草 igusa) straw. The core is traditionally made from rice straw, but contemporary tatami sometimes have compressed wood chip boards or polystyrene foam cores.
- Taking simple pleasure of bathing in onsen or public bath
- Finding daily joy in food – do not get surprised if you see a Japanese having white rice as a major portion of their food. A traditional Japanese food will be balanced with fish, tofu, vegetables and pickles along with miso soup.
Even the most famous food “Sushi” is a combination of rice and raw fish which one eats with a dip in soy sauce. - Living life around the nature – Japanese citizens have mastered their life around the four seasons. In autumn, everyone is out and want to see “Koyo” meaning changed colors of leaves. In winter, active sports as skiing and onsen. Spring is known for “Hanami”, when everyone is out to see spring flowers (mostly Sakura flowers) across the country. In summers, people go out for swimming in oceans, fireworks, along with outdoor sports and activists like walking, hiking, camping and traveling extensively.
