APPS:

Searching taxi in Japan can become challenging if you are not near a railway station or happen to be in the middle of the road away from public transport
Till recently there were no mobile apps also and the only way was to give a taxi company a call, explain to them where you are and so on adding to the complications. But now the mobile apps are growing and we recommend following 3 Mobile Apps which can save your day. We advise you to

  1. Download app of your choice
  2. Pre-register it so that when you really need it, it`s ready to go.

Here are 3 apps we recommend.

JAPAN TAXI

Japan Taxi is the best as of now with coverage across the nation. You can pay by cash/card in this case.

Android Store

TAKKUN

Best for Tokyo 23 wards. Lots of taxis available in core Tokyo. They also charge a small fee to call the taxi.

FURUKURU

As the name suggests, with Furu(Shake) Kuru(Come), just shake your phone, and get a taxi near you. This is from one big specific Kokusai taxi company. Since the taxis in the 500 mts receive the signal, no booking charges are required.

There are other apps too like LINE TAXI(if you use LINE, the Whatsapp/Snapchat of Japan) and Uber (costly in Japan), you can try those too but we recommend above due to sheer ease of use.
